Sunday, May 27, 2012Red and White Burgundy and more at 38 Central
We sampled the following wines at 38 Central on Friday May
18th. Thanks to David at 38
for the lovely selections he saved for us from a cooperage tasting the night
before. These are all exceptional wines with
scores and two short tasting notes.
Cheers, Ted and Tim
Garvey-Chambertin 2009 Pinot
91
Bonnie's Mares 2006 Pinot 92
Charmes-Chambertin 2005 94 This burgundy has great nose a
dark and rich wine, a little barnyard with leather, vanilla wafer and maple
which is ever changing. The barnyard
will fade in a few minutes. The palate
is exquisite with velvet smooth fruit and wonderful supple tannin.
Chateau moulin saint georges 2005 grand cru 89
Chateau Grand Larose 2008 saint-julien 93
Long Gamma Sonoma 2007 Zin and Syrah 94
Chassagne Montrachet 2006 89
Corton-Charlenagne 2009 93
Ellero Pinot noir Blanc central otago new Zealand 2009 Pisa Terrace 96 This
wine cannot be had in the US but I wish it could be. A clear silvery color with a nose of apples
and floral hints. The palate shows a
lovely fruit with a wonderful balanced acidity and is perfection. Please someone import this Pinot Blanc.
Porto 1997 Quinta do Tedo
