Monday, February 06, 20122008 Mark Ryan Winery Crazy Mary Red Mountain Mourvedre
This is a very dark Washington state wine, deep ruby and
opaque. The nose shows dark fruit, loam,
chocolate, leather and spices. The mouth
feel is full bodied with a velvety sweet fruit and vanilla, nice layers of
acid, fruit and tannin leading into very extended finish. The Mourvedre is a really nice accompaniment
to red meats and heavier fair but very drinkable on its own. A more extended aeration will produce more
smoked meat and deeper loam fragrances.

Score: 91
Cost: $ 45
Wine Type: Mourvedre, Washington, Columbia Valley, Red Mountain

Tuesday, October 25, 20112009 J. Dann Wine Cellars Rouge
A Washington state Columbia Valley GSM, (Grenache 44% Mourvedre 28% Syrah 28%), made by a Willamette Valley boutique winery. It has a medium ruby color, good legs, a nice blackberry, white pepper, sandalwood, and black olive nose. A sweet fruit with complex center that expands on the swish. A tart acidic finish, supple light tannin which folds nicely around the acidic middle. Very well received by our table, good by itself, enhanced with food.
