Syrah Tasting Results The results are in for Southern Oregon Syrahs versus the World here at the Oregon Wine Geeks. Eight tasters spent about 2 hours Saturday sniffing, swishing, sipping swirling and scratching numbers on their score sheets. A full report of the tasting will be available via PDF file soon but here are the results:

Just a few quick notes regarding the judging and results that are interesting:
1. The Winner wine was the least expensive but won by over 12 points to second place.
2. Southern Oregon wines did very well taking 5 of the top 6 spots.
3. The wine with the highest score from Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator finished last
4. The most expensive wine in the tasting came in second to last.
So congratulations are in order for :
Bronze Medalist: 2005 Eden Vale Syrah a lovely fruit nose and splendid berry fruit palate
Silver Medalist: 2007 Quady North Syrah Steelhead run with its intense nose and taste.
Gold Medalist 2007 Henry’s Drive “Dead Letter Office” Shiraz. Made in the Cote-Rotie style with a brilliant nose and deep complex flavor and finish.
