2006 Argyle Pinot Noir Reserve

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

This Oregon Pinot Noir from one of my favorite wineries is a solid selection for drinking tonight.  The nose is rather closed but has a familiar blackberry and minty loam.  The taste shows an acidic sweetness and oaky finish that will surprise you with its returning length.  The 2005 was better in my book but still a  solid performer that is widely available.

2006 Chalone Vineyard Chardonnay

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

This Chardonnay is from the Chalone appellation in the  Central Coast of California.  This is a subtle fragrant estate grown Chardonnay.  A very light sweet front end with a layers of oak and dry acidic finish.  I like it this a lot and will make sure I pick up a couple of more bottles.

2004 St. Francis Wild Oak Cabernet Sauvignon

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

A good nose with black cherry, an underlying leather and graphite. A sweet tangy fruit on the palette, slightly chewy with a nice clean tannin filled finish. Though a fine drink it doesn't measure up to some other 2004 Cabernets, I also don't see it becoming better with further aging but it will still age fine.

2005 Shafer Napa Valley Merlot

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

A nice dark pour of a young Californian Merlot, it is inky and thick.  The nose at this point is rather closed but fragrant in fruit and citrus.  The taste is worth the wait, it has a sweet fruit and a chewy middle layer that has both Tannin and an acidic finish.  Its has a remarkable long finish with lingering hints of coffee, chocolate and mint.

2001 Robert Mondavi Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

The nose is deep and impressive loam and black fruit.  This well aged Californian Cabernet has good fruit with a long acidic finish.  The tannin converts well with beef and heavier foods.  It is not as well balanced as the 2002 and 2004.  94, great with beef or lamb

2000 Carpineta Fontalpino Do ut des

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

Very dark Tuscan blend with a vigorous but a fleeting flavor a touch fruit on the tongue, then a tart exceedingly dry finish. The Tannin has taken over in this wine I don't see how it will age any further. It is as good as it will be right now. I'm going to let it breath this evening and see if it improve.

2006 Torii Mor Chardonnay

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

This Oregon chardonnay from one of the best Pinot Noir wineries in the Willamette Valley is a yellow to golden wine with a nice nose of melon, citrus fruit and just a touch of oak.  The flavor is sweet subtle fruit with a acidic undertones and smooth non tannic finish.  The middle could use more structure but overall a good drink.

2002 Arietta Red Wine, Variation One

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

This red Blend from California is deep and dark red wine.  The nose is very expressive, with black fruit, pepper and graphite.  The fruit up front taste is delightful, with tart acidic layer that tingles and excites the palate.  The layer lasts right into a very long dry tannic finish.  This will get better an better over time but is very drinkable now.
